“Dogs laugh, but they laugh with their tails.” - Max Eastman

Happy Wednesday! Here's the scoop:

  • This theory ranked the cuteness levels of 100 dog breeds

  • Pizza for dogs (pup-peroni, anyone? 😏)

  • They’re laughing with us, not at us…

Did you know?
Visual guide dogs are trained to do their “business” on command! This way their owner can clean it up a bit easier. Some of the most popular commands for these smart and courteous service dogs are “get busy” and “go time."

The cutest breeds based on the "golden ratio" measuring theory
Can cuteness be measured scientifically? The answer may surprise you.

The golden ratio – or Fibonacci number – is an ancient equation that has long been used to determine our perception of beauty. Basically, it has to do with how close the measurements of a face are to this number.

Recently, researchers have applied the same equation to dogs and were able to rank the cuteness of 100 dog breeds.

Among the 20 cutest breeds were Dalmatians, Labrador Retrievers, Basset Hounds, and Jack Russell Terriers, but if it were up to us, every dog would make that list.

Do dogs have a sense of humor?
We all think our dogs are pretty funny, but are they in on the joke? According to a new study, dogs do have a sense of humor.

For most dogs, the funniest thing is to play practical jokes on their owners (has anyone else been victim to this?). This behavior was noted as far back as the mid-19th century when Charles Darwin wrote that dogs will often wait until their owner is close by to pick up a toy they’ve been squatting near.

A recent California study found that not only are dogs pranksters, they can even laugh at their own jokes. Dogs demonstrate vocal play signals when they’re laughing at us. We may be the butt of their jokes, but it’s worth it as long as they’re having fun!
