Fido’s Taphouse is the world’s first taphouse and dog rescue. By partnering with Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals – a shelter that pulls dogs from high-kill shelters on the west coast – this dog-friendly bar has been helping dogs in the Portland area find a forever home.
Scott Porter opened Fido’s Taphouse to create “a unique social environment dedicated to craft beer, food, and shelter dogs.” Patrons can stop to play with the dogs, schedule a meet and greet, and even try dog yoga.
So far, 70 dogs have been adopted through Fido’s Taphouse!

What we're digging
There isn’t a single thing more relaxing, mood-boosting, and enjoyable than a long, leisurely dog walk. Unfortunately, nothing kills those good vibes and a long walk faster than the sudden realization that your shoes aren’t going to cut it.
We know we’re not the only ones who have faced this reality. So, we set out on a mission to never end another walk early again. And we found…the world’s most comfortable, supportive, and sustainable insole.
Fulton is a modern brand of arch support. They developed sustainable, supportive and comfortable insoles that improve your alignment and posture, making every walk through the dog park more delightful with:
a cork base, which absorbs shock and molds to your unique arch to provide custom support
a deep heel cup to provide maximum stability and prevent injury
arch support and natural latex foam to improve overall comfort
entirely natural and biodegradable materials to support you and the planet (something both you and your dog can be thankful for)
Better yet, Fulton is offering Daily Dig readers free shipping and free returns for giving their insoles a try.

Why dogs think vacuums suck
Has your vacuum become your dog’s nemesis? Dogs don’t always get along with vacuum cleaners, and some dogs react by barking and lunging. So, why are dogs troubled by this seemingly harmless household appliance?
Remember that dogs have much better hearing than we do. They can hear frequencies at least three times as high as humans can. So a loud vacuum can be very unpleasant for pups.
In a classic fight or flight response, some dogs want to fight the vacuum, while other dogs want to hide from it. Some dogs can perceive vacuums as intimidating and threatening, eliciting a prey drive. As a result, they may want to chase, nip, or herd the vacuum.
If your dog reacts negatively to the vacuum, it’s important not to scold or punish. Your best bet is to use positive reinforcement to help your dog feel comfortable around this harmless household item. Offer treats for good behavior, and remember to be patient while your dog adjusts.
