Restaurants' secret menu items for dogs
We love dog-friendly restaurants! Stopping for a quick bite is always more fun when you have your favorite companion along for the ride, and certain places allow you and your dog to dine together. You just need to know what to ask for.

Fortunately, we did the digging for you so you don’t have to. Here’s the secret menu for dogs at some of your favorite chains:

  • Starbucks: When you order yourself a latte, don’t forget to get a Puppuccino for your dog. This little cup of whipped cream is a special treat for dogs that can handle a little dairy.

  • Johnny Rockets: Dogs can always get a water bowl at Johnny Rockets, and certain locations offer Doggie Burgers and Doggie Pancakes.

  • Sprinkles: Stopping for cupcakes? You can order your dog a Pupcake. These sugar-free cupcakes with yogurt frosting make for a scrumptious treat.

  • Culver’s: While you’re enjoying a butter burger, your dog can chow down on a Vanilla Scoop. This dog-friendly vanilla ice cream comes with a milk bone biscuit.

  • Shake Shack: This popular chain has two menu items for dogs: The Pooch-ini is a sweet treat (dog biscuits and vanilla custard), or you can get your dog a Bag O’ Bones (5 dog treats).

Are bears and dogs related?
We may know that dogs are descended from wolves, but between their pointy snouts and fuzzy coats, it’s not that much of a leap to wonder if dogs are also related to bears.

However, in spite of these similarities, dogs are not related to bears. Dogs are part of the Canidae family – just like foxes and coyotes.

But there is an evolutionary connection between dogs and bears: they both belong to the Carnivora Order, which is characterized by having a diet that consists mostly of meat. Within that group, bears and dogs are also part of a sub-group that eats mostly meat, but also eats some berries and fruit.

Scientists believe that millions of years ago, before dogs and bears even existed, they shared a common ancestor: a small mammal with long tails that lived in trees, similar to the modern monkey.
