The DC flower shop that's helping rescue dogs get adopted through adorable deliveries
There’s a florist in DC that’s making Valentine’s Day deliveries feel extra special. The flower shop She Loves Me is partnering with Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and We the Dogs DC for the second year in a row.

For an extra fee, customers can get a rescue dog (along with a human helper) to deliver their Valentine’s Day arrangements. The recipient not only gets to meet the adorable pup, but they also get to enjoy five minutes of puppy playtime.

As if that isn’t already the best thing you’ve heard this morning…after last year’s event, all of the delivery dogs got adopted.

If you’re in the DC area, check out this amazing partnership. Your special someone is sure to love the flowers you pick out when they’re accompanied by an even more adorable rescue dog.

The reality of "dog years"
Spoiler: It's not as simple as 1 dog year = 7 human years!)

You’ve probably heard that one dog year is the equivalent of seven human years. That’s somewhat true, but according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, the story is a little more complicated than that.

First off, dogs age slightly differently depending on their size. A small dog is considered to be “senior” at age 7, while larger breeds are senior at age 5-6.

The American Veterinary Medical Association says that, for a medium dog, the first year of life is the equivalent of 15 human years. The second year is about nine human years. After that, a human year is about 4-5 dog years. In other words, the 7 year trick is more of an average.

True or False...
Answer: TRUE! While the Min Pin looks like a smaller version of a Doberman, it’s a completely separate breed.

It's speculated that both the Min Pin and the Doberman descended from the German Pinscher, but that the Doberman's other ancestors were dogs such as the Rottweiler, while the Min Pin's were Dachshunds and Italian Greyhounds.
