The benefits of microchipping
Did you know that dogs with a microchip are 4 times more likely to make it home if they get lost?

If you haven’t gotten your dog a microchip, it’s certainly worth considering. If it’s something you’re nervous about, it’s a good idea to gather all the facts.

First off, what is a microchip? It sounds more intense than it really is. This little piece of technology is a tiny capsule (the size of a grain of rice) with a radio-frequency identification transponder inside. The capsule gets injected under the loose skin on the back of a dog’s neck.

If that sounds painful, not to worry. It basically feels like getting a flu shot.

A microchip doesn’t have a GPS function – meaning that if your dog is lost, you can’t track down their chip. However, once your dog is found, authorities can connect your pup back to you.

What are the other benefits of microchipping? Microchips are permanent, so you only need to do it once. Plus, it's a quick and fairly inexpensive procedure.
