Watch This Dog Ring His House's Doorbell After Escaping Daycare
Dogs are generally expert trackers, but it’s still pretty shocking when dogs can find their way back home from a great distance. Imagine how surprised Dexter’s parents felt when their 5-year-old pup escaped from his pet hotel, ran two miles, and showed up on their doorstep while they were out of state.

Kansas residents Sarah and Jeremy Henson left their dog Dexter at a pet hotel when they went on vacation to Las Vegas. They weren’t expecting visitors while they were away, but then Sarah got a notification from her Ring doorbell app: Dexter was at the door, waiting to be let in.

Dexter had an exciting journey to get home. First, he had to jump a six foot high fence to break out of the pet hotel. He then ran for 90 minutes. Thankfully, the Hensons were able to call the kenneling service to retrieve Dexter and make sure he was safe until his parents returned from their trip. Their home security app saved the day!

Dog of the Day
Meet today’s Dog of the Day: Roxie!

As Visa - the Appaloosa pony that Daily Dig reader, Fran P., owned for over 16 years - began to lose her eyesight, her family worried that she would be unrideable. They decided to bring Roxie, their pup, on a retractable leash out on the trails with them as a guide to give Visa more confidence.

Amazingly, the pair’s communication together worked. The trust among Visa, Roxie, and Fran has allowed their healthy exercise to continue, and Roxie is now considered Visa’s “seeing eye doggie.” This heartwarming story is proof that animals can truly communicate interspecies!

P.S. Want your pup to be featured in a future Daily Dig? Submit their pic to woof@dailydigdogs.com or DM us on Instagram! Include their name and anything that makes them special (we know, we know, everything about them is special).

Can dogs be allergic to cats?
If you tend to sneeze when a cat is nearby, you may have wondered if the other members of your household can also be allergic to cats. It turns out that yes, it is possible for dogs to have an allergy to cats. However, the signs of an allergic reaction are different in dogs than in humans.

While humans may sneeze or have watery eyes, a dog’s allergy will most likely present itself as itching and inflammation. That’s because a dog’s skin more readily absorbs environmental allergens, like cat dander.

While it’s possible for dogs to be allergic to cats, it’s pretty rare. Dogs more commonly have allergies to ingredients in their food.

Not sure whether your dog is allergic? The best way to find out is to make an appointment for allergy testing with your vet.

Did you know?
Answer: Unlike us humans, who only have 2 eyelids, dogs (and cats) have 3! This third eyelid is called the "nictitans" and is used for providing extra protection and spreading tears.
