True or False...
Dogs have 3 senses of taste.

The adorable corgi with a cuddling problem
There’s nothing better than cuddling up with your dog at the end of a long day. But what happens when that sweet snuggle takes your breath away (literally)?

A tri-colored corgi named Graffiti has taken to what his family affectionately calls “the suffo-snuggle.” He climbs on top of them and wraps his entire body around their face so cozy and tight that it makes it, well, a little hard to breathe.

“He will stay there as long as you let him, and you usually have to lift him up and set him down next to you to get him off,” says Graffiti’s mom.

The gesture may look a little torturous, but they know this sweet pup just wants to be as close to his humans as possible. And there’s nothing closer than being perfectly wrapped around their face, right?

Dog of the Day
Meet today’s DOTD: Charlie!

This precious pup was rescued from a neglectful home by his fur-ever family in June of 2021, and he’s blossomed ever since.

Charlie’s mom, Leslie H. from Las Vegas, NV says, “He is the happiest, friendliest dog I have ever known. He loves unconditionally, hugs with his whole body, and is now so very joyful. I can’t imagine a day without him now.” ❤️

P.S. Want your pup to be featured in a future Daily Dig? Submit their pic to woof@dailydigdogs.com, DM us on Instagram, or reply to this email! Include their name and anything that makes them special (we know, we know, everything about them is special).

Get ahead of those post-holiday blues
Christmas is basically here, which usually means: lots of time visiting with family and friends (and their dogs, of course), lots of planned activities, and a little (ok maybe lots of) chaos.

Whether you’re looking for a vacation to decompress from stress or looking or to keep the fun going a little longer, a holiday from the holidays is our favorite answer. Vacationing with your dog can be a little tricky, but it’s always easier if you take a few extra things into consideration while planning:

  1. Research your accommodations in advance. Confirm hotel pet policies, or consider a camping-friendly destination.

  2. Plan your itinerary in advance. Think about how much activity your dog physically can and would want to do, and what activities would be best together vs. without a pup.

True or False...
Short Answer: FALSE! Dogs have 4 senses of taste - salty, sour, sweet, and bitter.

They can taste salty, sour, sweet, and bitter flavors, but they also have special taste buds for water at the tip of their tongue! Smell is more important to a dog’s liking of certain foods, however. Dogs only have 1/6th the number of taste buds that we do, but they can smell about 40x better than humans. Since a dog’s snoot is so complex, they can actually taste smells!
